This is part two of the Quit Your Day Job Tour blog post. I would go on and on about how awesome this tour was, but I am pretty certain that based on the content below, you get how much fun it was.
Yes. That's Right. This is the house from A Christmas Story!!!!! This was a pretty neat stop.
Stopped by a wicked cool ass cemetery and saw Elliot Ness' grave (left) and a monument to President Garfield (right)
So below are a few pictures from Detroit, MI. I looked up on Roadside America for cool things to do in the area, and found this awesome thing called The Heidelberg Project. The Heidelberg Project (“HP”) is a Detroit-based community organization designed to improve the lives of people and neighborhoods through art. Our mission is to inspire people to appreciate and use artistic expression to enrich their lives and to improve the social and economic health of their greater community.
Primarily a painter and sculptor, Tyree Guyton has also been described as an urban environmental artist. He has waged a personal war on urban blight on Detroit's East Side, transforming his neighborhood into a living indoor/outdoor art gallery
Ok. So the crucified baby might have been a little much, so lets lighten this up a little. We met this amazing woman who has been living in this neighborhood for over 23 years. I regret that I cannot remember her name, but I sat and spoke with her for a while. She has a donation bucket on her porch, and visitors to the HP can sign her house for only one dollar. "That's how I bought this new porch" she told us during our brief visit with her. (Below)
